In the beginning...
Formation of the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club began in 1928. The club was formally organized at a meeting of nearly fifty members at which time a board of fifteen directors was elected. A tentative draft of the constitution and by-laws were considered and plans were made to begin work at the site, as soon as the club was officially incorporated. The 9 holes course was opened the weekend of Labor Day 1929 with a sweepstake tournament on Saturday and a flag handicap tournament on Monday.
Then...
In August 1991, a contractor from Texas, guest of some members, walked over a piece of land owned by the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club. And so began the dream! This dream, a nine hole addition to the course, was shared by others and presented to the golf club membership and stockholders. And the dream took on a life of its own! Thus in September 1991, ground was broken for the start of the new 9 holes. Cobleskill Golf and Country Club would become an 18 hole facility! On July 2, 1994 we witnessed a dream come true with the opening of the 9 new holes of the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club.
And now...
Our course is one of the finest layouts and has some of the prettiest views in upstate New York. Members are proud to call Cobleskill Golf and Country Club home and truly appreciate their treasure in Schoharie County. |
